EECP or Enhanced External Counter Pulsation is a modern machine designed in USA and approved by USDFA for treatment of heart disease arteries. It increases blood flow to the diseased arteries by 200% and opens up collaterals. Thus it relieves chest pain and difficulty in breathing. The patient can walk longer, breathe easier and have a much better quality of life. The five year survival rate is the same for surgery, stents and EECP. EECP therapy extends the ability of interventional cardiologists and car-diothoracic surgeons to treat coronary artery disease, and provides noninterventional cardiologists with a means of participating in the treatment of patients who have become refractory to drugs.
Patient Care
EECP, or Enhanced External Counter Pulsation, is a non-surgical, non-invasive therapy for patients diagnosed with Angina Pectoris (ischemic heart disease). EECP offers pain relief associated with this particular heart condition. EECP is performed as an outpatient therapy consisting of 35 one-hour sessions over a seven-week period. Candidates for EECP treatments are referred to our Medical Director, who is a board certified Cardiologist. Patients are screened for appropriateness and accepted into the program if requirements are met.
While having your EECP treatments, you will experience a friendly and relaxing environment. In keeping with the Plane tree Model of Care, music therapy and aromatherapy are offered as amenities that can be used during your EECP treatments. Treatments are performed in a private room with television access. As with all the Diagnostic Imaging Services offered at IMDC, complimentary valet parking is offered to our EECP patients as an added convenience. This program is offered Monday through Friday. For non-medical, general information concerning EECP or EECP appointments, please contact our therapist. For medical referrals, please contact the Cardiology Department.
